Sizeable Tang Dynasty Mongolian Groom

618-906 A.D

Hollow-moulded earthenware Mongolian groom, standing facing forwards upon integral trapezoid base; Wears open-cut riding coat (in preparation for riding) with wide triangular lapels, belted around the middle, over baggy riding trousers; Both arms crooked at the elbow, positioned and drilled for implements. Mongolian features clearly delineated in black and red pigment, framed by head of black hair worn in the typical Mongolian style.
