    Greek Hellenistic Gold Earrings with Cabuchon Drops

    4th-3rd Century BC

    Superb pair of gold earrings, each composed of circular shield set with cabuchon inlay which is surmounted by an eight-tier rosette encased within gold-wire perimeter and has trapezium-shaped gold bar below, ornamented with a length of gold wire and large granule above and below; twin amphora drops suspended via gold hoop at head threaded through hoop beneath bar; rosette of granules at head and base of handles, spherical cabuchon bead attached at base via length of gold wire curled over at the end to secure the bead.

    Simple gold wire open-hook on reverse.

    A fine pair of earrings, in superb condition.
