    Mesopotamian Banded Agate Necklace

    Assyria, Early 2nd Millennium BC

    Thirty-five banded agate beads, of various shapes and sizes including lozenge-shaped, bi-conical, tubular and spherical.

    Restrung in modern times; 18ct gold hooked clasp.

    A very fine, wearable necklace.

    Agate, 80 grams.

    Acquired on the London art market in the late 1990's.
