Full Description
Holy Land Lamp with Circumvent Decoration
6th-7th Century AD
Light orange clay with patches of orange-red slip; Elongated lamp with large central filling hole with border of tongues arranged in radial fashion; Peripheral carination extending around channel and nozzle; Rectangular handle with two circumvents in raised relief with granules in the field, border of tongues. Traces of decoration remaining to shoulder and channel. Twin carination's on reverse of handle; Large base-ring with border of tongues.
