    Byzantine Gold Enkolpion

    Byzantine Empire, c. 8th Century AD

    Hollow gold cross composed of four square-sectioned arms, the left, right and top being of near equal measure, the lower, slightly longer; central raised bezel set with hemispherical glass inlay.

    Suspension loop at head with single granule at base.
