A pair of ancient Greek gold earrings formed from one twisted circular wire, which tapers to a point. The start of the wire has been attached to a bulls head terminal, made from gold sheet. The tapering point closes the earring by hooking on to a loop, below the animals throat.

Earrings such as these were popular from the 6th century BC and thicker examples have been found in Italy. Later examples from Greece show that the style was refined and the most common examples included bull heads, lions, goats and dolphins. These examples were made for everyday use, instead of being funerary items which were made from thinner sheet gold and susceptible to being crushed with age.
