A spectacle fastener formed from a single length of bronze wire, which has been tightly coiled at each end into two large spirals. The spirals are connected by a loop, and have been expertly crafted to sit opposite one another.

Date: 800 – 500 BC

Condition: Excellent condition with an attractive green patina.

The Celtic spiral is a dynamic and popular symbol, indicative of endless movement and in use from the Neolithic period (circa 5000 BC). Bronze craftsmen continued to use the pattern during the Bronze Age, though more flamboyant and flatter spiral patterns were favoured.
