Starburst Decoration
In the art of Ancient Greece, starburst motifs were often used decoratively and without necessarily specific symbolic association, though the motif may be associated with the sun god Helios. However, the starburst motif, also known as the Star of Vergina due to the prolific presence of such motifs in archeological finds at the town of Vergina in Northern Greece, has been suggested to have been the royal symbol of the ancient kingdom of Macedonia, specifically of the Argead dynasty which included Alexander the Great.
